COINBASE DERIVATIVES EXCHANGE DIVES INTO FUTURE🔮

Coinbase announced their launch of Coinbase Derivatives Exchange, a regulated futures platform that beginning on June 5 will provide BTC and ETH tracked futures for insitutional clients.

• Coinbase stated they released these products in response to increased institutional demand after introducing nano Bitcoin (BIT) and nano Ether (ETI) contracts last year.

• The futures contracts for BTI and ETI, with a contract size of 1 bitcoin and 10 ether per contract respectively, will be settled monthly in U.S. dollars.

• These contracts are designed to enable institutional traders to hedge market bets, express long-term market views, or incorporate them into intricate trading strategies.

CHAOS IN KAZAKHSTAN 🇰🇿

A 23-year-old man from Kazakhstan was detained by police for allegedly defrauding Almaty citizens using a fictitious cryptocurrency website.

• The suspect offered the victims the opportunity to raise money using his online crypto platform but failed to fulfill his obligations to return the funds, prompting the investigation.

• The platform had accumulated at least $7,000 worth of investment from at least 11 people, but police believe there may be more victims. Investigations are ongoing to establish additional episodes of fraud.

• Kazakhstan has seen a rise in crypto scammers, prompting police warnings to the public to avoid investing in dubious projects promising big dividends through cryptocurrencies.

NIKE AND EA SPORTS PLAN FOR IN-GAME NFTS 🎮

Nike's NFT platform, .Swoosh, will be integrated with EA Sports games, allowing players to purchase and customize virtual Nike footwear and apparel within popular games like FIFA, Madden NFL, and NBA Live.

• This partnership aims to bring mainstream gamer adoption to crypto by providing unique experiences for Nike's .Swoosh community and the large EA Sports fan base.

• Nike released its first NFT collection, called Our Force 1, on .Swoosh in May 2023, selling over 97,000 sneaker NFTs to nearly 53,000 addresses.

• While .Swoosh shares tools and technologies with Nike's other virtual projects like RTFKT and Nikeland, they are individual initiatives within the company.
