🪙 PAYPAL LAUNCHES STABLECOIN

This morning (Aug 7th), PayPal introduced a stablecoin tied to the U.S. dollar. The aim is to encourage the usage of digital currencies for payments and transfers.

PayPal’s stablecoin will be named PayPal USD (PYUSD).

When explaining the reasoning behind the stablecoin, Paypal’s CEO/President said this:

"The shift toward digital currencies requires a stable instrument that is both digitally native and easily connected to fiat currency like the U.S. dollar,"

The coin will gradually become available to all PayPal customers in the United States and plans to integrate PYUSD into their Venmo platform down the road.
