🧼 CELSIUS CEO ARRESTED

Bloomberg reported that Alex Mashinksy, the co-Founder and former CEO of the defunct crypto lender Celsius, was taken into custody on Thursday after a dive into the company's downfall.

Celsius the lending platform (don’t worry - your fav energy drink is safe) who went bankrupt 12 months ago, offered the token $CEL and allowed the ability to earn interest.

On the same day, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) filed a lawsuit accusing the firm and Alex Mashinsky of securities fraud. Shortly after, the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) and Federal Trade Commission (FTC) also initiated lawsuits against them.

The SEC claimed that both the token and the ability to earn interest have been classified as unregistered securities.

💬 COINBASE WALLET INTRODUCES INSTANT MESSAGING

Coinbase Wallet has introduced an instant messaging feature powered by XMTP, providing end-to-end encrypted private messaging.

This feature aims to reduce fraud within the crypto community by enabling direct messaging between users. Users with a cb.id username (Coinbase username), .eth domain, or Lens ID can utilize the messaging feature.

XMTP, an instant messaging system used by Lens, facilitates communication via blockchain addresses.

Privacy is ensured through end-to-end encryption, and users have the ability to block unwanted addresses. Sorry fellas, she can still block you on the blockchain… just move on.

🚨 GOOGLE PLAY ALLOWS DIGITAL ASSETS WITHIN APPS

Google Play has announced a policy change allowing developers to incorporate digital assets, including non-fungible tokens (NFTs), into their apps and games.

Developers who wish to incorporate the buying, selling, or earning of tokenized assets must clearly disclose the integration of blockchain-based elements through the Play Console.

The revised policy is designed to empower developers to transform traditional games by integrating user-owned content and offering distinct NFT rewards to enhance user loyalty.

Reddit has collaborated with Google on the new policy, promoting user trust and responsible blockchain technology usage.
