👏 BITCOIN’S CLEAN ENERGY USAGE PASSES 50%
A Bloomberg analyst, Jamie Coutts, has reported that over 50% of the energy used for Bitcoin mining now comes from renewable sources.
This shift has been driven by multiple factors:
Bitcoin miners relocating away from China following the country's mining ban in 2021
Nations like El Salvador, Bhutan, Oman, and the United Arab Emirates investing in Bitcoin mining to utilize excess energy
In May 2021, Elon Musk announced that Tesla would no longer accept BTC payments due to the environmental impact of BTC mining (reliance on fossil fuels).
Elon Musk stated that Tesla would consider accepting BTC payments once the majority of BTC mining relied on roughly 50% clean energy sources. 👀
With the 50% clean energy benchmark being met, will Elon make the move?
#Bitcoin mining uses 58% clean energy - Bitcoin Mining Council
Today Bloomberg Intelligence reported that Bitcoin Mining uses energy that is +50% from sustainable sources.
Confirmed. Your move @elonmusk 🤔
