🌐 EX-PAYPAL EXEC THINKS BTC WILL ADVANCE GLOBAL PAYMENTS
David Marcus, former PayPal exec and co-founder of Lightning-focused Lightspark, believes Bitcoin's Lightning Network can streamline cross-border money transfers.
In a Sept. 11 CNBC interview, Marcus emphasized the contrast between connecting with someone swiftly via email and the lack of a similar ease for payments.
You might wonder, "What about Venmo, Zelle, or PayPal?" However, Marcus is referring to global transactions. For non-U.S. recipients, using these apps isn't as seamless.
Currently, transferring money to non-U.S. residents involves a cumbersome process: obtaining bank details, visiting a local bank, and paying a $50 international wire fee.
Enter Bitcoin:
BTC facilitates sending U.S. dollars, which are then converted into the recipient's currency.
Thanks to Bitcoin's settlement layer + Lightning's real-time payments, cash finality is achieved at a remarkably low cost.
