EL SALVADOR’S NATIONAL BITCOIN OFFICE GAINS A NEW ECONOMIC ADVISOR 👀

Saifedean Ammous, renowned economist and author of "The Bitcoin Standard," has been appointed as an economic advisor to El Salvador's National Bitcoin Office (ONBTC)

• The economist will be providing advice to the President and the ONBTC as the country embraces cryptocurrency. He praised President Nayib Bukele's zero-tax policy for tech companies and expressed confidence in El Salvador's Bitcoin strategy.

• El Salvador's National Bitcoin Office, created in late 2022, manages all matters related to cryptocurrency in the country, which became the first to make Bitcoin legal tender in 2021.

• Reports show poor growth, with cryptocurrency making up less than 2% of remittances to El Salvador and low app retention rates, despite the government's emphasis on promoting Bitcoin.
