🤯 RUSSIA TO START TRIALS WITH CBDC

The testing phase for Russia's central bank digital currency (CBDC) project using digital rubles is set to begin on August 15, as announced by the Bank of Russia (BoR).

The testing phase includes 13 banks and a handpicked portion of their customers.

According to the deputy governor of Russia the set of trials will be looking to accomplish:

• a smooth user experience

• proper funding of digital wallets

• automatic payments for both B2C and B2B transactions

• seamless QR code functionalities

The deputy governor expects the digital ruble to be available for all Russian citizens beginning in 2025.

Central Banking Digital Currency will be all the buzz in the coming years as it knocks on the door of nearly every country (with enthusiasts and many - did I say many? many haters)
